This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.
Providing time for students to work on purposeful, independent learning activities is a necessary element of balanced literacy instruction. Creating engaging and rigorous activities that will allow students to review and enrich their knowledge of skills does not have to be a tedious, time-consuming project on the teacher’s part. This experiential workshop will include demonstrations of challenging word study, reading, and writing workstations aligned with the TEKS that can be implemented with minimal materials, as well as, an opportunity for participants to work with colleagues to create their own literacy stations; allowing them to leave today’s session with a bank of ready-to-use secondary literacy station activities. This session will meet at Rains ISD, Rains Jr. High; Room: Library.
All participants should to bring a device capable of internet access.
