Unlocking Complex Texts Through Shared Reading
Grades 3-8

This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.

Important Session Information:

In order for students to improve their reading comprehension skills and build reading stamina, ALL students need to be exposed to complex texts.  Accessing complex texts requires structured time for students to work through new strategies and practice skills.  In this session, participants will understand the importance of daily shared reading in the intermediate and middle school grade levels and learn practical strategies for implementing a modified shared reading protocol to teach metacognitive skills so that students become successful independent readers capable of grappling with complex texts on their own.

***All participants should bring a device capable of internet access.
