This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.
Important Session Information: You must have attended the
three day Original Mathematics Academy in order to register for this session.
This course serves as a follow-up to the learning acquired during the Original
Mathematics Academies.
This academy is designed to:
- connect problem solving experiences and discourse strategies to deepen the content experienced in the original Mathematics Achievement Academy, Grade K-1;
- explore and apply the problem-solving model found in the TEKS as a tool to help students make sense of mathematics and to help the mathematics make sense to students; and
- explore and apply mathematical language routines to equip students to communicate their mathematical understanding with clarity.
Experiences include face-to-face sessions, job-embedded practice, and online community.
12:30-3:30- Optional opportunity to learn about the online component.
The participants need to bring a device.
There is also a stipend attached to this training which will be given after completion of the 2 face-to-face sessions and the online component.
