CACFP Financial Basics




This course will be instructed by a finance professional and/or licensed CPA. The goal is to introduce the financial requirements and is recommended for CEs that will have an Administrative Review in the 2019-2020 PY.

Training topics included in this course:

  • Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statements, Statement of Cash Flows)
  • Financial Ratios (how these are used to summarize assets and liabilities to assess the financial health of any company)
  • Ethics in Finance (integrity in documentation and representation of bank records and/or financial statements)

*Must have Region 10 Child Nutrition Consultant Approval to Register*

This training is intended for currently approved CEs in the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

This course will be instructed by a financial expert. The goal is to introduce the financial requirements and is recommended for CEs that will have an Administrative Review in the 2019-2020 PY.

  • Non-profit vs. For-Profit Organizational Structure
  • Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statements, Statement of Cash Flows)
  • Financial Ratios (how these are used to summarize assets and liabilities to assess the financial health of any company)
  • Payroll Basics (1099 contractors, W-2 employees, minimum requirements for employers)
  • Ethics in Finance (integrity in documentation and representation of bank records and/or financial statements)

The training will include hands-on activities to help CEs understand their financial “map” from daily transactions to financial statements.

About the Instructor:

Kendall Marshall is an Enrolled Agent (EA), authorized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a tax-practitioner. Mr. Marshall specializes in federal taxation, designing corporate entities for asset protection. His passion is to help small businesses understand the importance of not only producing products and services, but also having a clear understanding of how to interpret their financial health. He is a representative from a company that is comprised of CPAs and bookkeepers with over 35 years of experience in corporate accounting and taxes.
