A “workshop” allows a group of people to share knowledge and experiences while pursuing common work. This series of three sessions will focus on strategies to implement the workshop model in 6-12 ELAR classrooms so that students become engaged readers and writers with the ability to transfer skills across genres. In this session, participants will build the reading and writing connections in their classrooms by exploring the use of powerful mentor texts and targeted mini-lessons. All session activities will support the ELAR TEKS adopted in 2017. Participants should bring a charged device and a book that they are currently reading.
