Title: Helping Adolescents and Young Adult Face the Challenge of Stuttering

Presenter: Scott Yaruss, PhD/CCC-SLP

As children who stutter become teenagers, the challenges they face become more
complicated. They may face difficult questions about how stuttering will affect their ability to get a job, to
get into college, to get into the service, or to meet that special someone. The concerns of parents also
become more acute, as they worry more about their children's future. During this period of transition, the
ability to cope effectively with stuttering becomes increasingly important. This presentation will focus on
the issues that face older school-age children and adolescents who stutter, with a focus on helping to
prepare them for a future in which stuttering does not play a negative role in their lives, so they achieve
their best success both in and out of school.

This event is free to all Region 10 LEAs.
