Making Math Meaningful for Little Learners

Math for young learners

Important Session Information:

Little learners begin to understand informal mathematical concepts such as quantity even before they are taught. As teachers, we need to hone this natural, innate mathematical ability along with concrete examples in order to make math meaningful. In this session,
participants will explore all five math skills outlined within the math domain including: counting, adding to and taking away, geometry and spatial sense, measurement and classification and patterns. Participants will also develop activities for both large and small group instruction that can be immediately implemented in the classroom. Best practices that promote kindergarten readiness will be addressed. Additionally, specific strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners will also be explored and discussed.

* This session is free to all Districts/ Charter Schools/Private Schools and  who have joined the Region 10 Early Childhood Services and Prekindergarten Cooperative. All non-Region 10 participants will pay $150.00 per person for this event.

If you are interested in joining the Region 10 Early Childhood Services and Pre-K Cooperative or need additional information regarding the cooperative, please contact Dr. Kelley Estes-Jones (972) 348-1780 or Kelley.Estes-Jones@region10.org or Angela Neal (972) 348-1776 or Angela.Neal@region10.org
