Personnel Documentation - Dr. John Crain




This Presentation is for Campus and District Administrators

This workshop will be using Dr. Kemerer and Dr. Crain's Texas Documentation Handbook effectively in making employment decisions for teachers and other employees.

This workshop will focus on:

Legal Framework for Documentation of All School Employees
• How employment law affects documentation
• Differentiating permissible from impermissible reasons for negative employment decisions
• Types of documentation
Teacher Supervision Issues and Collecting Classroom Data
• Examining effective supervisory practices to use with marginally effective teachers
• Learning how to use the authors’ focused observation instruments for 15-25 minute classroom observations
Writing Effective Follow-up Memoranda
• Practice writing follow-up memoranda using a template for a specific incident memorandum related to instruction

Each participant will receive a copy of the Texas Documentation Handbook.

Presenter's Bio:

Dr. John Crain is well known to Texas educators for his training programs in effective teaching practices, curriculum development, developmental supervision, and teacher appraisal. In his more than fifty years in education, John has worked as a secondary school and community college teacher, a principal at all three school levels (elementary, middle, and high school), as assistant superintendent in the Dallas Independent School District, an associate director at the Region 17 Educational Service Center, and as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in the Highland Park Independent School District. He also served as an assistant professor at the University of Dallas and the University of North Texas. John holds his undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Midwestern State University and an Ed.D. in educational administration

For administrators in Region 10 District/Charter or Private schools that have purchased the Administrative Services package and Region 10 Employees there is no registration fee.  For all other participants a $200 per person registration fee applies.
