Intentional Intensity
For ELAR Teachers Only

This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.

Important Session Information:

Do you want to challenge learners while preparing them for life beyond the ELAR classroom? Teaching and learning should be exciting and intense, but it’s easy to get distracted by the overwhelming feeling that comes from knowing there’s so much to teach in a year’s time. This session will focus on the importance of intentional reading and writing instruction in an environment that supports and engages learners through critical analysis and collaboration.

Intentional Intensity in ELAR Session goals:

  • Understand how classroom environment supports intensive instruction.
  • Analyze and create purposeful instructional activities to promote visible thinking and assess learning.
  • Use model texts to improve reading and writing instruction.
  • Design learning targets to assess teaching and learning.

(Recommended for grades 3-12 but all are welcomed)
