Family/Community Engagement: Maker Education Through Family Involvement Lens
Targeted Audience: Assistant Principals, Dean of Instructions and Curriculum, Principals, Interns
Approaching family, school and community engagement from a research-based standpoint, attendees will understand the key areas for school leaders to invest their time and attention throughout the school year. A reflective activity will allow attendees to see through a variety of lenses to strengthen their approach.
Family, school and community engagement flourishes when it is tied to real, authentic learning experiences. We’ll take the topic of MAKER EDUCATION in schools, and offer ideas and real-life opportunities to bring all stakeholders together through project-based events at school and at home. Attendees will have an opportunity to take part in actual Maker Dads and Maker Moms projects that engage local libraries, environmental associations and historic commissions in authentic learning opportunities.
Participants will have various hands-on opportunities to learn during the workshop which will include three focuses:
- Family-Community Engagement
- Maker Education Through Family Engagement Lens
- Unconference Professional Learning via EdCamp Express
