Access for All: Architecture and Engineering in Early Childhood



Teachers will learn to use universal design principles to plan engaging activities that stimulate critical thinking and problem solving in young children. Teachers will gain specific strategies for differentiating instruction in math, science, and engineering activities to meet the needs of all students.  This workshop is designed to support early childhood teachers in developing skills necessary to design and teach STEAM curriculum in a wide variety of classroom contexts.

In the architecture and engineering session, teachers will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of methods for using the construction center to develop critical thinking and problem-solving strategies in young students.  Through hands-on experiences, participants will gain advanced strategies for incorporating emergent literacy into rigorous, purposeful, play activities.
