A comprehensive evaluation is necessary when assessing dyslexia. Participants will obtain an overview of the new WMLS III. Specific focus will be placed on the tests that can be used within a dyslexia evaluation. Participants will understand how to include the WMLS-III in a multiple data sources assessment for dyslexia. This workshop will present a framework for planning the assessment, interpreting the results, and communicating the findings.
Learning Objectives:
· Participants will understand there is no one test that can be used to determine the identification for dyslexia.
· Participants will learn a dyslexia assessment will include the testing of reading words in isolation, decoding unfamiliar words accurately, reading comprehension and spelling.
· Participants will learn how to build a pattern for unexpectedness by including measures of listening comprehension and verbal expression.
· Participants will learn how tests from the WMLS III can be used with other tests and data to provide a comprehensive assessment of dyslexia.
