Designing an Accessible School Experience for Students with CVI

Presenter: Matt Tietjen, Co-author of Sensory Balance: An Approach to Learning Media 
                                        Planning for Students with CVI 

Day One of the training:

  • Barriers that CVI poses to school access
  • Characteristics and traits that tend to have the most significant impact on school access.
  • CVI and 2D Image recognition: We will examine how interpretation of images is impacted by CVI and what types of images are often best for learning media for students with CVI.
  • CVI and its impact on learning Math, Literacy, O&M, Emotional and Behavioral Implications.  

Day Two of the training:

  • How can we can systematically overcome those barriers to create access as well as looking at the complexity framework, design tools, and the use of the new Sensory Balance companion for the Learning Media Assessment.
  • How to use this approach through student case studies and hands-on practice.
