This is a secondary Advanced Academics session, offered as part of Region 10's Instructional Practices and focused on opportunities for all students. Participants may earn 3 CPE hours.
Cognitive Rigor deals with complexity of concepts and types of thinking as we consider the depth and breadth of topics that should be taught as part of an educational experience. In this asynchronous course designed for secondary educators, participants will gain an increased understanding of cognitive rigor across content areas by watching a video, exploring cognitive rigor matrices and sample assignments, designing an assignment to share, and submitting reflection responses.
After registering, participants will receive an email with a link to the Google site that houses all course instructions and activities. This is a completely asynchronous course. There will not be any synchronous meetings through Zoom or other platforms.
Participants must complete all required work by October 25, 2021. A Region 10 consultant will review all submitted work, and three hours of credit will be awarded upon successful completion and review. It may take a week or more after the course closes on October 25 for PD certificates to be available.
