APLA: Empathy.Equity.Empowerment
FOR EVERY PROBLEM, THERE IS A SOLUTION (9/28/21)

Targeted Audience:  Assistant Principals, Dean of Instructions and Curriculum, Principals, Interns

Today, educational leaders are called upon to demonstrate a variety of skills that address demands as mandated by our country, state, city, and communities. Assistant Principals must have cutting-edge professional knowledge and skills to ensure they are invaluable assets to their principal, are able to develop and maintain effective systems, instrumental in supporting teachers in their professional growth, and with the ultimate goal of closing gaps in the education and development of all students. Region 10 ESC Administrative Services is committed to serving our Assistant Principals' needs through the Assistant Principal Leadership Academy – APLA.

Important Session Information:

The goal of the training is to teach Assistant Principals in Region 10 how to increase cultural awareness amongst their staff and students. This will assist these educational leaders in controlling their climate and culture and creating an atmosphere of effective communication, respect, honesty, fairness and empathy amongst their staff and students. Educators will also gain an understanding of their actions and the consequences that come along with them. By gaining this understanding we can bridge the gap between educators, parents and students. This workshop will also infuse, daily affirmations, the problems with educating black and Latino males, how to work with students who have experienced trauma and how to work more effectively through a pandemic. This presentation will also infuse tools and encouragement to help educators successfully manage their work/life balance and personal biases despite the cultural climate we are living in today
