How does the brain learn language? In this self-paced, asynchronous workshop, participants will learn about how the brain learns language through exposure to comprehensible input. Participants will also examine specific teaching moves that need to happen during instruction that allow the teacher to teach in a way that works with the way students’ brains learn language, not against it. As a result of implementing these practices, students will remain more engaged, increase their critical thinking and develop language more naturally. This course is ideal for novice teachers who are new to comprehensible input and for veterans who are familiar with it but seek to deepen their understanding of the practice and its direct application in the classroom.
This self-paced course will be open from January 5, 2021 to March 25, 2021. After registering, participants will receive an email with a link to the Google site that houses all course instructions and tasks. Participants can complete and submit work at any time before March 25th. Between January 5th to March 25th, the Region 10 consultant will periodically review submitted work and determine if credit may be awarded. Certificates will be issued after the course closes on March 25th.
