How do we know what courses students have taken, what their grades mean and what credits to award students when they enter our schools from foreign countries? This training will provide insight and guidance to help us evaluate transcripts and report cards from other countries.
English Learners have historically graduated at lower rates than their peers, therefore, effective interventions are of the utmost importance for these at-risk students. This session provides a better understanding of educational practices, cultural norms, and transcripts from around the world to build a more empathic and culturally competent student experience.
Participants will learn about the top immigrant student populations represented across the United States. Apart from cultural norms recommendations to supporting the whole-child.
Additionally, interpreting foreign transcripts at a curriculum level is a challenge for many U.S. schools. Therefore, practical information regarding the interpretation of these documents along with credible online resources will be discussed to help participants make the most efficient education decisions, with the highest impact for student success.
