Making the transition in the the school practice setting can be challenging for OTs/COTAs and PTs/PTAs. This course will review the key federal and state laws that influence the delivery of OT and PT services for children with disabilities in schools. It will include the primary requirements for educating children with disabilities, such as evaluation, eligibility, service delivery, ARD process, telehealth and more. Additional topics include assistive technology, transition, the role of other IEP Team members, terminology specific to the educational environment, SHARS, and documentation.
It is intended for therapists who are new to school-based practice (SBP) or new to SBP in Texas. Please note that this is a two day training. Please register for each day separately. Both days much be attended to receive PT CCU Credit. OTs can received credit for each day individually. Day 2 will be held on August 28, 2020
