Critical Thinking in the Classroom: Intro to Artful Thinking

This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.

Important Session Information:

This session is open to teachers of all disciplines. In this workshop on Harvard’s Artful Thinking methodology led by museum educator Carolyn Armbruster and Meredith Clark, teachers learn how to promote critical thinking in the classroom by facilitating learner-centered conversations about artwork. Participants will recieve an orientation to Artful Thinking, experience several model thinking routines, analyze teacher questioning techniques and practice these skills in the afternoon. While it is not required, we encourage participants to register for the follow up workshop, Artful Thinking II, where participants will reflect on implementation, add on to their repertoiry of thinking routines and work collaboratively on lesson design using the routines.
