Hey bilingual teachers and teachers with English learners! Here’s a training that encompasses the ELPS, principles in our new ELAR TEKS, science, and math vocabulary... all in the great outdoors. What better way to engage your students than through outdoor experiential learning activities that bolster critical thinking and language development skills? Come learn with us at the Dallas Arboretum Children’s Garden! This is experiential and hands-on learning at its finest! The first part of the day will be spent outside and will involve quite a bit of walking, wondering, writing, and oral reflection. The second part of the day will be a collaborative effort that forms a vision of how to bring the content of our day to the classroom. Come and learn in the great outdoors!
We will meet at the main gate of the children’s garden. Please park in the garage and bring your parking ticket to be validated along with your teacher’s badge for entry. DO NOT PARK AT THE MAIN GATE. Please bring your parking ticket for it to be validated and your teacher ID for free entry. The day will be spent outside with hands-on learning that will involve quite a bit of walking. Dress comfortably, pack lightly, and bring water/snacks. I’ll provide a clipboard and paper/handouts for you to jot down notes and ideas. You won’t need much else besides maybe insect repellent, a hat or sunglasses, and sun screen.
