News and Media Literacy: Building Critical Consumers and Creators

This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.

Important Session Information:

In today’s 24/7 digital world, we have instant access to all kinds of information online. Educators need strategies to equip students with the core skills they need to think critically about today’s news and media. Join us as we look into how where we get our news can impact our perceptions; how we can use media as a tool and not something that uses us; and how we can support our school communities navigate a media-saturated world. We will take a dive into some of the latest research on how fake news may fool our students, or even us, and explore four tips to promote a foundation of news and media literacy. Leave with resources you can use immediately in your classroom.

NO Charge for Region 10 Library Cooperative members. In-Region, Non-coop members will be charged $100.00 at check out. If paying by a P.O. please send a copy of the PO to Mary Matzek at mary.matzek@region10.org
