How do you get students to "DO" history? What does the job of a historian look like in practice? Research show that students who are actively engaged in the process of investigation the past rather sitting passively memorizing facts become stronger critical thinker, writers, and retain information better. In this six hour session, we will delve into the creation of History Labs based on the work of the Stanford History Education Group, Sam Wineburg and Bruce Lesh. Time in the morning will be spent learning how to create and implement History Labs and time in the afternoon will serve as a workshop for participants to begin the development of their own History Labs.
