Meeting the educational needs of a young child who has a visual impairment requires thoughtful planning and collaboration by a team of professionals. Participants will explore the alignment of the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and the Expanded Core Curriculum, while developing a repertoire of developmentally appropriate activities for these students. Best practices that promote kindergarten readiness, as well as best practices in the education of individuals with a visual impairment, will be investigated through collaborative activities. Education teams are encouraged to attend together. Participants may include: special education teachers, general education teachers, teachers of the visually impaired, orientation and mobility specialists, and/or speech services professionals.
