Prekindergarten Academy

The revised Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines reflect current research and best practices in early childhood education. The Guidelines provide challenging but achievable outcomes and concepts that children in high-quality Pre-K programs are to master in each domain as a precursor to the Kindergarten TEKS. If you have not previously attended one of our Pre-K Academies or if you are new to the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, join this dynamic two-day session!

Participants will examine the revised Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and learn how to effectively incorporate them in a high-quality early childhood classroom. An overview of the following 10 domains will be explored:

  • Social and Emotional Development
  • Language and Communication
  • Emergent Literacy Reading
  • Emergent Literacy Writing
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Fine Arts
  • Physical Development
  • Technology

Best practices that promote kindergarten readiness will be explored and discussed. Specific strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including struggling students, will also be included.
